Crossdresser Makeup Tips – Aveline on Rimmel Kind & Free

Rimmel Kind & Free Image

What is the Rimmel Kind & Free Range and Why Does it Matter?

Rimmel’s Kind & Free range is part of their “clean beauty” movement, developed with strict values at its core. But before we get into those values, let’s take a step back

What is Clean Beauty and Why Can It Be Important for Crossdressers?

Clean beauty is all about light, minimalist makeup with simple, gentle formulas. Think of it as “teenage beauty” — fresh, subtle, and enhancing rather than masking. You won’t find bold, dramatic shades like deep reds in this range; instead, it’s about natural enhancement.

For crossdressers, this can be especially powerful. Why? Because clean beauty is not noticeable from 100 miles away, yet it still gives you that lovely feminine feeling. It’s makeup that lets you express yourself without drawing overwhelming attention.

The Values Behind Kind & Free

So, what are the morals behind Rimmel’s Kind & Free line? In a nutshell:

  • Kind to humans, animals, and the planet.

  • Free from harsh chemicals, animal products, and virgin plastic.

Rimmel has made a big push toward sustainability — for example, the packaging uses 74% recycled plastic where possible.

Who is the Rimmel Kind & Free Range For?

The answer is: Everyone. Rimmel themselves highlight inclusion and positivity as part of this range. It’s designed for:

  • People with sensitive skin

  • Vegans

  • Crossdressers

  • Eco-conscious consumers

  • People who love animals

  • Or simply anyone who prefers a lighter, more natural makeup style

In short, Kind & Free is about makeup that feels good, looks natural, and matches a lifestyle of kindness and inclusivity.

Tropical Spark Rimmel Kind and Free Lip balm

I picked this up from Poundland for £1.50 as part of their Rimmel Poundland range. At the time, I didn’t know much about clean beauty or the Rimmel Kind & Free line, but since then, I’ve really enjoyed learning about the values behind it — especially the focus on clean, conscious makeup.

As a feminine crossdresser, I’ve been wearing this lip balm for a couple of weeks now, and I have to say, I love how understated it is. It gives just a faint orange glow on the lips, which I really like. There’s a smooth, balmy feel when applying it, and once it’s on, it adds a subtle, natural sheen that fits perfectly with the clean beauty vibe. It enhances the natural colour of my lips with that soft orange tint, rather than masking it.

Application is very easy, although I did find that the stick can break a little if you're not gentle — I ended up with a few small orange specks on my lips when that happened. Not a big issue, but something to be aware of.

One thing I really love is the packaging. The baby blue tube feels fresh and minimal — and maybe this is just me — but it reminds me of my dual identities. It feels like a product that can be worn by anyone, regardless of gender, without raising even the most conservative of eyebrows.

I also appreciate that it’s vegan. That might be why the texture is a little more brittle at times, but honestly, that’s a trade-off I’m more than happy to make.

I’m definitely looking forward to trying the other shades in the range.

Clean Nail Polish

This is available in 18 shades here are the ones that I have so far - so addicted πŸ’…

Rimmel Kind & Free 151 Fresh Undone Nail Polish

I love this range for it's youthfulness and vibrant colours they remind me of the 60's. The colours really pop.

In my experience so far the nail polish lasts long and doesn't chip

I have had Sunset Soar on for about one week now and I think I need to remove it to apply another colour

with 18 colours I'm asking myself do I need any other nail polish other than this range I have found It easy to apply and easy to tidy up leaving it looking amazing.
